Steven Burges is a freelance pianist, coach and teacher, a former student of the distinguished teacher Beate Popperwell. He is noted in the field of ensemble work and has worked as a repetiteur both freelance and with the Welsh National Opera. His current engagements include recital programmes with singers and with instrumentalists at the Cardiff Millennium Centre as well as other venues.

Currently, he is the official accompanist to the Cardiff & Vale of Glamorgan Music Service, and to The Vale of Glamorgan Young Musician and Young Singer of the Year Competitions. For the past few years he has been accompanist to the Besson International Summer School at Swansea University. In 2006 he took part in the Grace Williams centenary concerts organised by Anna Risi and this year he is playing for a series of summer opera performances staged by Musica Rediviva.

Recently, he has recorded Schubert's Die Schone Mullerin with Julian Moyle. He plays for a number of choirs as pianist and organist.
